Dexter

Post by UncleMao » 13 Jul 2008 21:38

I have never gone out and bought a season of a television series after catching just the pilot on free to air.

Now that show is Dexter. My new favourite show. Right up there with Heroes.

Dexter is a great guy. He's smart, funny, kind and charming.

He has a great job working as a blood splatter technician. He is well off and well, life should be grand for a guy like him.

Except it's all bullshit. Dexter feels nothing. He's a sociopath. A serial killer who has been hardcoded by his foster father to only target other killers. People who have also gotten away with murder.

It would be great to call him a crusader for justice. But that's crap. He kills these people because he has to. It is his calling.

Having no feelings , he only fits in by mime. He pretends to care. To laugh. To be normal.

On paper this all seems so thin.

But God, this is the best thing Ive watched in a long time.

And watching him finally get his victims. I feel dirty for cheering on a character so morally disjointed as he is.

But it is so much damned fun!

It's pretty much the best show ever.

It has the greatest title sequence ever.

Making breakfast and putting on a t-shirt has never been more unsettling.

OMG I do believe that I first started watching dexter series one as a direct result of this forum!! And I got a couple of my friends into it too. Wouldnt it be really strange if the result of extra interest in this series by this forum caused them to do the 2nd season??
Oh and I watched californication last year due to this forum too.
Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning.

It was all me. I know because I watched them every week they aired on TV... but Smash had to find a torrent to catch up mid-season.

Worse. I had to grab both seasons on torrent and it was after the second season had just ended.

Totally dex credit for me and angelbaby. I just made it easy for AB to watch what dex recommended she watch by giving her the episodes.

Now if I could only get Angelbaby to finish watching Season 1 and 2 of Arrested Development. I even bought her the dvds.

iLose.

Far too long to wait for Season 3 to start.

FYI - Showtime is reairing Season 2 on Sunday night television. At S2, E3 Lila is introduced. Unbelievable how attractive she is now... by the end of the season I was thinking she was hideous. I guess it goes to show you how unattractive 'completely fucking insane' is.

BTW - Angelbaby. Did you and Swat watch them all? Did Swat like it as much as you? I kinda recommended it more for him than you! :P

If only they could somehow meld this with nip tuck..

Lila's attractiveness ebbs and flows like the tides. When she's nekkid tho...it's usually all thumbs up.

She's only attractive when she's naked.
