You mean the Patriot Act which passed by a vote of
Votes For : 357
Votes Against : 66
Not Voting : 9
in the House, and
98 for, 1 against, and 1 not voting in the senate? hmm Explain how thats JUST the republicans fault?
fuck the republicrats. they can all go to hell
Uhuh... at the time in which the bill was passed, so close to 9/11, it would have been political suicide to vote down ANYTHING named "the patriot act". It could have been a bill making it legally necessary to put mustard on every hot dog sold, and it still would have passed. A tradgedy had just occured, people were willing to do just about anything to feel safe.
That all been said, I'm not voting against Bush because of the Patriot act, OR Iraq.. though I have varying degrees of support on them.. Its because of his ridiculous tax cuts for the upper 1%.. (don't let the other tax cuts cloud that over.. they're just a smokescreen to cover him taking care of his daddy's buddies.. Count pure dollar amounts, and you'll see that in the next 10 years, more than 50% of the total tax cuts are going to the uber rich.) Yes, theres some that would agree with that.. I mean, the rich make the most, so if they save the same percentage, they'll save the most money, right? Well I don't agree with it, even though many do.
I'm not going to get into how Clinton left us with a 10 trillion dollar surplus on the budget in the next ten years.. and Bush spent all that, plus another 10 trillion. (Don't nitpick me on exact numbers right now, cause I don't have the exact figures right here). Jobs drop to shit.. Don't give me the crap that he added so and so many jobs (he always lets us know when he makes one), cause it takes 300,000 or so jobs created per month just to keep up with population growth.
NOW. that all been said, I am OBVIOUSLY a Democrat (duh).. and I will be buying Farenheit 9/11... that been said, I WANT to watch the 2 or 3 documentaries that the republicans put out to reply to it.. I don't agree with everything Moore said.. and I am not opposed to seeing the other side, even if I'll probably be enraged by some of it.
Oh, and Deep Impact special edition? Sweet! Morgan Freeman, Tea Leoni, Elijah Wood, and Leelee Sobieski.. that movie is the shit!
