This particular part of the forum seems a tad desolate. Lucky for all of you, I've actually got a question and I want answers. I want answers NOW, dammit.

Well, ok. It isn't that imperative.

It is actually quite simple: How do you find out about anime to watch? What prompts you to watch one series over another? Is it word of mouth? Do you try and find out what all the other cool kids are downloading? Do you have online resources that you scour for recommendations?

I tend to pick up Newtype every once in a while or Anime Insider. Other times, I'll look at what is on the AnimeSuki bit torrent list and first look for torrents of series that I'm already watching and then something that sounds interesting. If it is something I'm not familiar with then I'll head on over to the always fun to decipher summaries at animenfo.

There. I've shared. Now it is your turn.

I also ask <a href='http://www.dexisajerk.com/' target='_blank'>Dex</a>.

Although, my IMs with him don't have as much sexual innuendo as AB's do.

Well, maybe not.

AnimeNFO.com is a good place to read peoples feedback, plus they have a nice "top 100 of all time" which changes, cuz its based on peoples comments & ratings.

Like Puzzle, I also check is on torrent sites, like animesuki.com, just by looking at how many SEEDERS or LEECHERS a torrent has, you can see how popular it is.

Not to say all popular things are good, but this might help you to not get into something that sucks.

Newtype magazine is good for whats just coming out in the US, but not helpful for fansubs from Japan.

Another good source of info are other forums, like over at anime nation (http://animenation.net/forums/)

Or you can always just download EVERYTHING thats out, and watch one or two ep of it to see if you like it or not. I tried that for about a year when I didn't have cable TV... I saw a lot of crappy anime T_T

Hi, Dex. Long time no see!

I was pretty disheartened to see that Animefringe (http://www.animefringe.com) decided to fold their operations. I really found them to be a decent source for reviews and other little tidbits of information.

I tried doing what you suggested once - downloading as much anime as possible. I ended up frying my router.

I frequent theotaku.com.

But that site is a little umm to otakuie for me.

I just use it for wallpapers.
