Ok here goes.

Image

My neighbour works at Crown Casino as a bartender. Last week he invites us down to hang at the Maple Room for drinks. The Maple Room is probably the last set of highest bet tables before the private rooms and special request areas in the Casino. Anyways, I'm swilling doubles and straights on ice watching the Baccarat tables all night. It's pretty normal seeing $50 chips and $100 chips being the norm. I watch people make mini piles of 100s and that's cool. Every now and then I spot a 1000 chip and the night progresses in this manner, I watch till about 1am then this happens.

A large Vietnamese posse walks into the Casino and plonks down at one of the tables. It's weird. They're all clad like bums. Torn, dirty ADIDAS trackpants and worn jackets. All baseball caps and dirty clothes. The strange part is that although the clothes ain't worth spit, all of them wear Patek Phillipes, Rolexs and high end watches and jewellery. The chicks have fat ass diamonds on their fingers.

Anyway, 2 pit bosses come straight to the table and stand behind the dealer at this table. And everyone changes 100s and 1000s which is fine, except for one guy who basically sat at the table but didnt play for almost 25 minutes.

Then he reaches into his jacket and pulls out this green fucking slab and chucks it at the dealers face. It's a stack of 100 dollar bills almost 3 inches thick. He reaches into the other pocket and another fat brick of hundreds hits the dealer. Now this dealer is counting out 100s over the whole Baccarat table. Everybody gasps the table is crowded as. Even me being 5'11 has to stretch and strain to see the commotion. The count is $45,000. This crazy Viet gets a pile of $1000 chips

What happens next I wouldn't believe if I hadn't seen it myself. The fucker puts the whole pile on "Tie". He's bet that the player and banker have the same score and tie the game. It's a 1-to-8 suckers bet. The Viets are chattering loudly. "Oook ook" here and there.

I'm not playing and even I'm sweating and wondering how crazy this fucker is. With amounts like those you can be DAMNED sure these guys dont earn their money working 8 to 5 in some day job.

The fucking madness. Guess what. It WAS a tie - the Viet got paid $320,000 straight up. I don't know if he and his posse walked away after but I sure hell did.

Happened last Saturday, 9th July at the Maple Room, Crown Casino

I'd say at that stakes level...there was obviously some system at play by the Vietnamese. Does you Baccarat use single deck? Is it shuffled every hand? How many players? I'm surprised the casino didn't haul him into the back and beat the shit out of him.

Decks used are destroyed after every hand. No reshuffling.

My guess is that you witnessed some type of payoff or money laundering scheme in action.

I wonder how long a witness stays alive when the Viet gangs come after them... :D

If you saw them Viets. You'd realise they don't need to launder money if they need it.

There was this scheme going on that what ever third world country they were making the cards in some thugies changed the cast on the face cards so theyd have a small mark on the border. Took Vegas three weeks to catch on to why these people who couldnt speak english were cleaning shop in black jack.

Mao... You write very well. I enjoyed your little story.

My favourite part was the "oook ook".

Classic.

I'm dying to know why you ask that.

It's probably a probability thing. Having a total value of 6 or something. I can't remember, it's almost been 2 months since.

It is about probability. A tie on six would mean that the dealer was in on it. Just like if the deal hit on a hard 17 during a blackjack game.
